lookin to change exhaust again

So right now i have obx longtubes with there resonator and y pipe set up going to a si/so flowmaster 40 series with 3 inch tubing from the muffler back. i like the sound and the volume level but i think i would like to go true duels. im thinking of putting a 2 1/4 x pipe in place of the y i have with 2 1/4 tubing to the mufflers and then the same size out to 4 1/2 inch tips straight out the back on either side.

the question i have is what mufflers should i get in either magnaflow or borla to acheive the same volume level as my si/so 40 series? i kno the tone may be different but thats fine if it is still deep. thanks for the help and sorry for the poor grammer lol

Dirt,
Not to get off topic here, but wouldn't 4 1/2" tips be too much for that body style truck? I've got an '08 body with a SI/DO set up almost the same as yours with 4" tips and I had questioned whether or not they would be too much. Now if your truck is 4x4 with 35"s, etc, that's a horse of a different color

Migdaddy, did you get your exhaust changed yet? I heard AVfrogs Borla pro XS.. just wanting to hear some more versions. I still have full cats on my truck..

Oh, and to the OP, another vote for Borla Pro XS..

If you want something that's comparable to the 40's, either Magnapacks or Stingers or Bullets. All sound great but I hope you have an amazing tolerance to drone. As for the pipe size, 2.5 inch pipes would be better especially if you can't get them mandrel bent.

well it actualy is a 4x4 with 35s and the tips i make myself and paint black so its not 4.5 inches of chrome so they wont stick out like a sore thumb, plus with home made im not gunna lose money if i dont like them, but back to the original topic i heard a video with the borla pro xs and liked the sound. does anyone kno the drone level on those?

Borla will be significantly quieter in the cab than the 40. Heard a friend of mine that has the Borla Pro and riding in his and my trucks are a world of difference, drone-wise.

I vote dual Borla stingers. You won't believe the difference over those Flowmasters.
