Corsa - Interior sound?
Corsa - Interior sound?
Hello All,
I was wondering what the Corsa kits sound like inside the cab. I have read endless comments regarding them being drone free at freeway speeds, but what about the sound when cruising around town?
I am still looking to make a decision on which way I want to go for my exhaust setup but the Corsa #24310 (for the 09-10 F150) is a top contender. My biggest concern is if I will hear anything on the inside whe driving around town (90% of my driving). I WANT to be able to hear it. Obviously I don't wat obnoxious noise, but if it sounds the same as stock tha what's the point? lol
I have gone over just about every video on Youtube for the Sport and Db performance system and all seem to have a pretty mean growl on the exterior, but there's just about nothing video wise for the interior.
I just don't want to drop $450+ on a kit and not even tell I got something new.
If any folks out there wtih this kit/setup could post up a video from the interior i their F150 I would greatly appreciate it. I do understand that the 09-10 models are louder than the prior years but as of right now I have just about zilch to reference the interior Corsa sound too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As far as interior noise, I can tell you on my dads gmc Yukon he has a corsa (it's a bigger muffler) but the drone inside is very vey minimal. I remember he had a smaller corsa which was I believe the db series and the drone was still pretty minimal. The outside sounded wicked though. At 1800 rpms, u definitely know your exhaust isn't stock...that's for sure. You will not disappointed with corsa. But I would go with the most aggressive db series muffler they offer.
I have Corsa on my truck and you can certainly tell while in the cab. It has a much deeper sound than stock and a bit louder when you're cruising and it really wakes up when you romp on it. Its loudest at 1800 rpm's. I like to leave my slider open and enjoy the sound outside too.

The Corsa in the videos I have seen, mgp32's truck I believe, sounds awesome. Wish somebody had a good interior video.
Thanks again, everybody.
I have been running corsa sport side exit for several years now... this is what I notice in the cab (windows closed)
under gentle acceleration or while cruising at constant speed you will not hear much of anything
But if you give it moderate acceleration it is louder and more of a growl than the stock, but still rather subdued in the cab (windows up)
If you stomp on it, then it sounds real nice even with the windows up.
This is not an obscenely loud exhaust... this is an exhaust with great tone that allows you to drive along quietly most of the time.
If you want something that you can hear for blocks and will wake up the neighbors every morning than you will probably not like Corsa.

Thanks for the response. I am not really looking for something that can be heard from blocks away, just something I can here in the cab a little. As much as I like the near silence of the stock muffler, I would rather have a little bit of sound so i can at least hear it when I cruise around around town. I don't want something that is obscenely loud, but rather a growl that has that nice tone to it.
Really, what's the point in spending $400+ on something that sounds pretty much the exact same as the stock muffler? The stock muffler is quite straight-through as is, so any exhaust mod is really more for looks and sound.
I just don't want the Corsa to be the "same" internal tone as the stock exhaust. If it is, there really isn't any point to it. I keep hearing the Corsa sounds great at WOT, but who really drives around all the time at WOT? I don't think I ever even use WOT...there's no point in it. lol I am not the kind guy who puts the pedal to the floor right when the light turns green. I grew out of that when I was in High School.

The Corsa sounds like it might be best of both worlds, my only concern was what I posted in the previous paragraph. I am still keeping my options open, but have narrowed my choices down to 3 setups, albeit very different choices.
Thanks again for the response.
I have a corsa sport exhaust and love it. Absolutely no drone on the highway and it has a nice sound around town. I get up early and the neighbors have never complained about it. When you crack the throttle wide open and sounds great but that doesn't happen to often with gas prices they way they are. If you are in the chicago area come by and check it out. I will say that I have a 4 cat system and that may help keep it on the quiet side.

It seems like the folks who own the Corsa system really enjoy it. The kit I would be looking at is the one from DB Performance (#24310). Same muffler so the sound should be almost the exact same as the Sport (according to Corsa). Very tempting. I definitely like the tone outside. Sounds more like an expensive sports car than a truck. lol
it definitely doesn't sound the same as stock... its got more of a growl even at idle. But its not a crazy-loud growl.
I guess that was what I was trying to say earlier... its not real loud, but its got a much better tone to the exhaust.
And all the comments you see about WOT are referring to both tone and loudness.... it is pretty loud when you stomp on it (occasionally I do
But even at a normal 0-35 MPH acceleration you will notice the difference in tone. Its not the type of sound that will drown out your radio, but it sounds deeper and more throaty.
hope this helps

Thanks, Matthew.
Im running a corsa and longtubes and you definitely know its there but its by no means annoying. I wasnt happy with how quiet mine was without the headers on it but you might be ok with an 09. And yes, its loud at WOT. Heres a video of me driving slow keeping it under 2k, about as quiet as i can keep it. This is windows up too.
