Magnaflow tru-X crossover

I'm compiling a parts list to get my exhaust done, but I have a question that I need some input from those of you that have been there. On the Magnaflow 2.5" tru-X crossover, do the pipes just but up to the crossover tubes or does the pipe fit inside, so it can be clamped? Does anyone know the center to center measurement between the two pipes? It states the center core is 2.5"x4", but I don't know if that's the distance from the centers of the two inlets (or outlets).
