Throttle body spacer

So why is there so much hate on throttle body spacers? some people say they are worthless cause they dont do anything, some people say they actually restrict airflow, is there any truth in that? i have one on my truck and if it doesnt do anything then im going to keep it on but if it actually restricts airflow and hurts performance then im going to take it off, also is there any good write ups on how to clean the TB and MAF?

They do absolutely nothing on a fuel injected engine. The only possible use I can think for one would be for a nitrous kit.

They do nothing but make a whistling noise on an injected engine. They make a good paper weight, but I doubt the do anything negative. Just a total waste of money and installation time.

For the MAF and TB, check the index of the Articles and How To Forum.

If you already have one, let it there. I have one on, but got it for free. There are lots of opinions on these. Do a search on "TBS".

I haven't been able to tell if it does anything for power, one way or the other.

If I had one I'd have it on just for the whistling noise. Some people don't like it but i think it sounds pretty cool. I have a spacer on my carbed engine, which on that it actually does do something, and it whistles as well.

YES..LEAVE it there!! You'll have 500 people tell you that it's worthless, a paper weight yada yada yada.

I can tell you from MY experience that I have LOST MPGs from removing mine!!! I am **** about my gas mileage and want the best possible I can get. I was consistently at 13.5 give or take a tenth forever. I removed the TB Spacer in hopes to gain more mileage and i have lost about 1.5 - 2 MPG!!!!!!!!! I'm on 1/4 of a tank and only have 220 miles on the tripometer!!!! I use to have 200 at 1/2 tank!! Yea, I went 4x4 on the beach once....but it still shouldn't be this bad. I'm scared of what my mpgs are gonna be on this tank. ---------DirtySCREW
