I believe that year model had 145 hp. My son made a similar mistake on his '95 I6 and lost a considerably amount of bottom end torque. A 2.5" pipe is optimal for a stock or basically stock 4.9L (300 ci). You can purchase a mandrel bend tail pipe from SummitRacing.com, a 2.5" Dynomax Super Turbo muffler (Ctr/Offset), a couple of universal hangers and butt clamps to install it or have a welder friend or shop tack it together for you.
