Is it cheaper?

Hey guys..

I was wondering...is it cheaper to buy a muffler and tips seperate and then have a shop bend the pipes for you rather than buying the cat back system ready to go? thanks

Yes, it's only a fraction of the cost for a custom cat-back compared to a premade kit. One of the sacrifices is that a typical custom job won't be full stainless and the bends won't be mandrel bent like most quality premade kits. You can still get all of that in a custom job, but the price might get pretty close to the premade kit and finding a shop that can make those bends and supply the high quality pipes gets much harder.

Cheaper to go custom but there are some drawbacks. Custom is hardly ever mandrel bent. And the cost for a 304SS custom exhaust is outrageous. I was told that a 10' stick of 304SS was about $250. And you have to buy it by the stick.
