They have some that are "direct fit," which have the o2 sensor bungs in the cat already and are more expensive. The difference between the 94106 and 94306 (universal fit) is that the 94306 is supposedly 3" longer and a tad quieter.

I am looking to have a shop install some 94306 that I ordered online. Can anybody give me a estimate of what to expect for installation cost? I have been qouted $340 from a local muffler shop on the west side of Houston.

My install ran $120 and I gave him the cats and o2 harness extensions which totaled probably another $150.

Thanks Alfack. I guess I should call around to a few more shops. About how long did it take for them to do the install?

No trouble. I arrived at the shop at 8:00 and was out of there by about 9:45. Not too long.

I have been calling around getting qoutes for installing the new high flow cats and I am getting grief from most of the shops telling me I shouldn't put the high flow cats on the truck. One shop told me that I wouldn't get enough back flow pressure, other shop told me that replacing the four cats with two would cause CEL to come on, one shop refused to even give me a qoute for the work. I assume none of you have had any problems once the high flow cats were installed. Just FYI, I have a 2004 with the 4.6L V-8.

I don't think folks are having trouble, doing it the way described in this thread. I haven't, but it's only been a week and my truck only had two factory cats.

You need to tell them "fine, I'll take it to somebody who will." Sometimes an offer of cash to a small business or sole proprietor helps.

I know for my truck, a 2002, i am supposed to only repalce the front two. Will i notice any difference with high-flow cats on a 4.6L with a Maggy Y-Pipe and Magnaflow exhaust? I dont' necessarily want it louder, but always looking for a few more ponies..

@alfack I called 4 places, here are the qoutes I got in order. First one was $340, Second one Refused to give me a qoute becaues it could not be done, Third one said $250, but I would have back flow problems and finally the last place said the CEL would come on but he would do it for $150. Guess who I am going to...

I plan on doing this next Friday. I will post up and let you know how it comes out.

Jesse, unless you want sound, save your money. The gains are minimal.

Just got a call from my exhaust shop....They sold my old stock cat's and gave me $20 a piece for them. SO my install went down to $176 with the credit. YAY! setup sounds terrific too!

That's a good point. I let the guy keep mine. I think that's why he only charged me $120.

@TruckGuy - I did it to get rid of the P0420 CEL + I could feel the restriction in my clogged cat. It is a bit louder than I prefer, though. I will check my mileage on this tank.

Yeah that's because you had a code (damaged Bank 2 cat) (Bank 1 is P0430)... stock cats in good condition to these high flows will be minimal... They are for sound for the most part. That's why I did my 94106's

I know what you mean with the big variation in prices.

Im getting a true dual exhaust put on tomorrow and got all kind of different prices.

Im going with the hi flow cats, xpipe, magnapacks and tips that i purchased from performance peddler.

To do the install, 1st quote was from a shop around the corner from me for $250 - $300 depending on how much pipe they use.
2nd quote was from a performance shop. They wanted $750!
3rd quote was from Tonys Custom Exhaust in glenn burnie MD. This is very reputable shop with alot of good reviews all over the web. They originally wanted $650 and when i told them I already got a price of $250 they lowered theirs to $550 and tried to also talk me out of going with hi flows.
they said if i get it done for $250 they would love to have me bring it by to see what the job looks like because its alot of work for that good of a price.

Im still tempted to let Tony's do the job because ive heard so many good things about them but for a $300 savings Im going to take the chance with the local shop. I plan on staying there to make sure its done right and these guys seem pretty decent. The shops name is Manik Muffler in Essex, MD if anyone knows of them.

All these prices are for alumized steel. I hate to think what mandrel bent stainless would cost me ..... lol
