Catted H pipe on 5.4

I've always loved the sound of Mustangs since I was about 7. I'm wondering if anyone on here has done an exhaust set up like the ones that come on the mustangs. I currently have a single Flowmaster 40 series can with stock piping into it and turn downs. Can anyone give me some reccomendations on what type of full exhaust system to get? I plan on doing headers along with the exhaust. Just fishing for some good info.

# 4 Just remember that your truck will never sound quite like a mustang.

Well, I'm definitely doing headers and redoing my exhaust. I know it won't ever sound exactly like a Stang. I just want that throaty growl and dont want it too loud when I get on it. Probably just throw on duals all the way back and stay with the Flow 40 series on each pipe.

I took my factory y pipe and cut it, used an x pipe off a newer dodge magnum/300c hemi car which was also 2.5" and about exactly the correct width to mate to the cut pipes, ran it down the passenger side and used two flowmaster center in center out delta flow 40 series mufflers, and ran tail pipes from there out back and voila, true dual 2.5 inch, decent power gains, truck chirps second, and it sounds pretty aggressive.

most mustangs have flowmasters on them, so if you want to sound like them, flowmasters are what you'd want.

a 4.6 mustang with flowmasters isn't going to sound much different than 4.6 in a truck with flowmasters.

yes he doesn't have the 4.6, but still the same idea

So aside from you guys gettin off arguing, I should do an x-pipe and stick to the flows. I understand that it won't sound exactly like a stang. I just want it to have that traditional muscle sound that Ford is known for. Like, when you hear that sound....you know for a fact that it's a mustang. maybe change out the cam? Give it more of a throaty beef?
