Which Muffler

OK guys I'm about to get an exhaust and need some opinions. I see a good mix of people that like both or one more than the other. I have a 2007 F150 with the 5.4 with no engine mods. I'm stuck between the flowmaster 40 series SI/DO and the Magnaflow Part 12198 SI/DO 14 inch body. I have never heard the Magnaflow in person so I'm having a hard time deciding. I want something that sounds good but not SUPER loud and I DON'T plan on changing cats or adding any H or X pipe. Thanks

the flowmaster is usually always loud, but its possible i tame it i guess you could say. but if you aren't doing anything with the cats it might sound good and not be real loud. They are my personal choice. A lot of people on here will suggest the magnaflow though.

^ Yep.

OP I can tell you from past Flowmaster experience, that you will be 100% happier with that Magnaflow or a Borla muffler. I have had Flowmaster on this truck, and many other vehicles, but once you try a "real" muffler over a resonating box, your opinion on what sounds good will be forever changed.

^ I'd still suggest dynomax ultra flo though. I like the construction of the body, basically a stainless steel flowmaster shell.

Our OHV experience isn't as extensive as our SOHC knowledge. Can't really use both interchangeably, the outcomes are no where near the same.

Magnapack. Either SISO, SIDO using a Y pipe, or Duals. Had Flowmaster on two F-150s including this one. Never again. My 40 series lasted 10 months before it came off.

True duels will probably be too loud for me to deal with everyday. Like I said earlier the shop I'm gonna use only carries the Magnaflow part#12198 in the 14 inch body and the 40 series flowmaster. The Maggie makes me nervous cause I've never heard on in person and most videos on the internet have terrible sound and make the Magnaflow sound barely deeper than a stock system. I heard 08fx4's video that says its the 14 inch Magnaflow and it sounds great but is it Part # 12198 or are there many 14 inch Magnaflows?

For some reason I thought the OP's truck was a 96. I think I got his info mixed up with nw150's.

A single Magnapack 10416 will be on the same level as a 40 series, except it will have a more refined tune. You would have to add an additional Y-pipe after the muffler to have dual exits. That's what 08FX4 had on is 08 and what he currently has on his new truck.
