well as the chart says, you wont need anything over 2.5" until about 500+hp

well from 69 to 72 the 429 and 460 made the most power stock. the 72 460 was 350 some odd hp and 500 tq. The 429 wouldn't be far off from those numbers. The compression ratio was the highest then too. so a bigger exhaust would suite you 429 better than his 460.

I had a 76 Ranger that came with a 360 and later stuffed it with a built 460 bored 40 over. It had 3" exhaust with Thrush mufflers.

****, I wish I still had that truck but I couldn't afford to feed it as a daily driver after totalling my car and couldn't afford another vehicle after being layed off. It got 4 mpg in the city and it might get 6 on the highway but it sure was fun eating early 90's Camaros and Vettes for lunch in an "old" truck.

its by no means a race truck it goes o-60 in 3 tanks of gas. But i bet this thing will a house down.

unless you build the 460 a certain way it's not going to be a speed demon, but it will pull just about anything. I second you're statement about pulling a house down no doubt lol.
