confusion.

Alright I just read and re read the exhaust how to sticky and ensuing thread. I like the idea of true duals and a H pipe with the equalizing pipe crossover, but my confusion lies in the cats. Right now I have the factory y pipe, manifolds, and a sido flowmaster. If I go to tru duals I assume I have to run 2 cats, one for each side. If I do, than am I just whizzing in the wind when it comes to flow and hp/tq gains? Would I use the coveted 94106 cats, or are they 97 and up only? If not which should I use. Don't worry Steve I won't discuss ripping them out!! Teasing lol. As far as the o2 sensor is concerned I figured I could install it in the h pipe (its kinda that way from the factory.) I really want an aggressive sound without the back cackling and have as much flow as possible. Thanks

You don't have to do anything with the convertors to run true duals. All the exhaust shop will do is cut out the y-pipe and run whatever size piping you wanna use from each side to the rear of your truck.

Bump on what triton said. If you already have dual exhaust(not the dual) they should be able to keep that piping in and cut the muffler out. So all you should be paying for is them cutting the si/do muffler off, cutting the y pipe out, putting two mufflers in or a Di/do, and run a few short feet of pipe from where they cut the y pipe to the old pipes that exited the old muffler. Unless your changing pipe size.

Ok. Maybe I failed to mention that this is a 90 model with a 302. The two down pipes come together at the pre cat and exit the pre cat as one. the it goes to another cat, then to muffler then duals out the back. I can't use the factory cats to go tru dual. I want to run 2.5 inch pipe , h pipe, flow through muffs. I need to know which high flow cats I need to use to get the best flow and I need to know if running two of them will be counter productive. thanks

Then yes, you will need 2 94106 cats to stay legal.
