Newbie question

ok so I have a 2005 f150 5.4. Is it true if I put a cai and an exhaust system that the truck would not run right unless I get a programmer? Would like to put on a CAI, Headers and full exhaust. Would you really notice a difference?

I don't see why it would need a programmer to run right. All of that is supposed to help the engine breath more efficiently. Some say the CAI isn't really worth it, so that's up to you. If you do get that though, get the entire assembly and not just the drop in filter if they make that for your engine.

If you get headers you'll need to find a way to keep cats on there unless this isn't gonna be your daily driven vehicle because it's illegal to run without cats as far as i know.

You will probably notice a gain from all of that though yes.

I used to want to get a programmer for my 96, but everywhere i posted something about it to see if was worth the money said skip it. Some one else can chime in on the that cause i dont really know have any experience with them.

Is the system from a website? post the link...

Well I already sold my Expedition but I had the exact setup you're talking about on it for towing my boat. I did Gibson headers and full Gibson exhaust, K&N intake and power programmer. It cost a lot of money but I for sure could feel the power change. Plus who leaves anything stock anymore? Haha

as far as i know, a cold air intake wont really do much unless you have a custom tune written to take advantage of it. there are a number of stories where guys with the 04-05 trucks actually run lean with a cold air intake. also, you can do the gotts mod for a fraction of the cost but the exact same results as a CAI. if you do in fact replace your whole exhaust, id for sure look into getting a gryphon with custom tunes to really take advantage of all that money you just spent.
