Need semi-urgent help regarding K&N filter

So a few days ago I went to go clean the filter all seemed easy enough. Took it off, sprayed the cleaner on it, washed it off, let it dry, then oiled. So then when I put it back on and went for a drive the engine is fighting to stay running. At stops its really noticeable and it actually even stalled once so far. This was my first time cleaning the filter so I may have over oiled or not have let it dry long enough. So does anyone have any input (besides "shoulda done the Gotts Mod!")? Thanks.

Do you have a tuner?
what year F-150?
What engine?

I had a Aem intake, and I cleaned and dried it. Let it set for 8 hours.
I had some trouble out of it at first, but it passed quickly, I think it still had a bit of cleaner in it.

Maybe you over oiled it?
Good luck.

No tuner for it
2005
4.6

The thing is is that I let the thing dry for roughly four hours ,but it isn't exactly warm where I live and I dont believe I over oiled mainly because I remeber it being a much deeper red when I first got it then after I oiled it myself. I dont know though I could be wrong.

Well that rules out the 5.4L 3V issue then.

Hmm.

Try leaving the ground (neg-) wire off the battery for about 15 minutes and then see what it does.
Worth a shot I guess.

Or maybe the MAF is dirty or has the oil on it from the filter?

Sorry out of ideas.
Good luck.

2nd the oily MAF. Get a spray cleaner and try to clean it.

then blow off any excess oil you have on the K&N. reinstall and try.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Im assuming that the cleaner can be bought at any auto parts store? And also to anyone that has oiled their filter, how much oil is too much? I just re cleaned it just to be sure and now giving it ample time to dry and need to know about this oil.

you just need a lil' bit of oil, and this is the reason I've moved on to dry filters....
