Im new to this board and havent added pics or details of my truck yet so bare with me until then. But I have a black 2007 fx4 5.4 w/suicide doors, has a leveling kit, 18" xd addict's with 33" toyo m/t, tinted tail and third light, black interior headlights w/clear lense, and blacked badges along with some darker window tint. Im running a edge w/dash pod, banks ram air cai, true dual flowmaster delta flow 40 rear exit, and just put in my own electric fan setup/controller. Now to what this thread is about! My OBX longtubes are finally on the way and I will be putting them on in about a week and a half!! I am going to run true dual ss 2.5" that will side exit before the rear tire into 3.5"x12" SS tips(rolled, straight cut). My initial setup will not have a muffler so it will be straight piped until I put the maggie 18" di/do on. I really havent seen setups like this with LT's so I decided to experiment, and yes I know it will be LOUD! If anyone has comments or suggestions on my planned setup please feel free to chime in!

 

you going to re tune after the LTs are on? Also I would look into some high flow cats to replace your 2 OEM ones. Then your pretty much set on bolt ons, besides a supercharger.

 

Re-tune for sure! That should sound amazing with that 18" magnaflow. VIDEOS!!!

Im putting resonators on so it will be totally catless. As far as retune, ive been considering putting a cam in which has to be dyno tuned so i may skip retuning for now and save the money for the dyno but i have some thinking to do first. Fixing to try upload some pics of my truck

 

if your going to add cams wait till you do the cams and headers at the same time because you will need a tune with just the headers. im waiting to do my headers and supercharger at the same time.

 

I'm just going to run my Evo with compensation for the headers until I decide on the cam, may be two or three months for that and I have access to a car lift this weekend. Guess not too many people have much to say about this setup I'm going with except for the select few of you, don't know if thats good or bad :/

 

straight piped and exiting before the rear tire will be f*cking loud.

i have:
obx long tubes w/resonators
x piped where y pipe was
2 16 1/2 (18") dynomax bullets
2 4" tips 45, semi tucked behind the rear wheels
all 2.5" piping

and i haven't heard anything louder. i get so many compliments on this setup, thumbs up, smiles, winks, licks of lips etc; but mind you in this cold weather it may never be louder than it is now until after it's broken in, say 5,000 miles or so. i may end up going to a 22" muffler it's so loud.

don't forget you need o2 extensions bbk 1676 i believe

not bad...gets annoying and crackles a little within the 1500-1800 rpm range. hasn't been as bad lately, i keep it around 2000rpm anyways so skip the drone

on the highway it's not too bad, especially with the music settings on level II you can barely notice it's there, but if it shift out of overdrive, or downshifts, that's a completely different story

 

Just ordered my 18" Maggie di/do. Next week I have a 5 hour drive to make and 5 hours back so I'm having the Maggie put in and exiting before the rear tire soon I put the headers on Saturday, I guess I'm going to see if I die from drone during this ride and its all highway. But I've been running open headers for the past month commuting 60 miles a day so anything will seem way quieter to me!

 

Open headers with stock manifolds?

Open headers with long tubes; attracts way to much attention, rocks the neighborhood, lacks power, has a mean grunt, sounds like a v8 speed boat, couldnt go 1500 rpm without feeling the need to cut back in case I were to get a noise violation.

Drove around 2 days on open headers, it was fun, but having a full exhaust setup is way better, got the torque back, sounds quieter, but may still be too loud. This is coming from a 20 year old, but I swear im 40...i hate loud noises, unless im really in the mood for it.

 

I love it but agree with everything you said above, I have no intentions on running the longtubes open except to drive it to the exhaust shop. But even with stock manifolds I can set off car alarms across parking lots when I start it, not to mention scare the s**t out of little tuner as they drive by and I punch it !)

 

di/do 18" maggie with no cats and OBX was to loud for my taste. To much rasp not enough "good" sound. I run a saleen single in duel out now and while I dislike the sound of flowmaster chamber mufflers I love the saleen sound (edelbrock)

 

Yeah I romp on little hondas and even the 328 bmw's. It's funny to watch their faces as a truck on 35s beats them out to 60 and higher

My truck sets off alarms and can be heard from about half a mile away at light throttle, and at wide open throttle it's just ridiculous
