Trying to decide on exhaust set-up

Truck: 2006 FX4 5.4 3V.

Everything is stock on it right now and i need to replace one cat because of a code so i am going to put high-flows in it. Going with the Magnaflow 94106 high flow cats. As for the rest of the exhaust i cant decide on....

Either True duals with bullets or magnapacks and an xpipe or...

a Magnaflow or Dynomax SIDO muffler type.

either way the exit will be straight out the back. and piping is going to be 2.25".

only concerns i have is the sound. i want a deep throaty tone but i dont want to hear much of it on the highway or have it all popping like. i had a magnaflow catback and headers, race cats and race y pipe in my previous car and on the highway it was loud as hell no matter how fast i was going. i dont want that with my truck. i want to hear it when i accelerate and what not. i am trying to achieve it where if im on the highway doing like 65-85 its fairly quite so that i dont need to turn the radio up too loud to not hear the exhaust if that makes sense.

Go with a dynomax bullet for your muffler, then a DO for sure. Thats what I would do

Go to performancepeddler.com and check the prices on their 94106s. Use promo code clubgp. I doubt you'll find cheaper prices anywhere even with the 20% off the other website is advertising.

how is the drone between 55-80 mph with your guys true dual setups compared to SIDO setups with high flow cats on either?

Magnaflow X pipes are perfect, but you can also get a cheaper one identical to it on ebay. I suggest 14" mufflers because you said in your first post that you didn't want much noise on the highway.

thats what i was probably going to go with was the 14". i was told about the ones on ebay but im skeptical about their durability and what not compared to an established company like magnaflow

^ As long as you get the stainless one, it is identical to the Magnaflow, and much cheaper. I would have no problem running it on my truck. Many other members here are running those X pipes with no problems.
