DI/DO magnaflow VS. 2 Maganflows
DI/DO Magnaflow VS. 2 Magnaflows
After posting exhaust questions here and getting responses telling me I would be best running true duals over a single 3". So I was curious as to how to run the exhaust. Would a DI/DO muffler flow as well as using 2 mufflers? I am looking at magnaflow oval body mufflers. I plan on using 2 1/2 in pipe with an x pipe and exiting 90 behind the rear tires. Any info is appreciated. I have tried searching, but being in Iraq my computer time is limited. Thank you

Only on V6's.
Bankrupt had a a DIDO on his truck and it sounded pretty good. He also had hi-flow cats and a set of Hotrod cams, so that might be why.
There is a noticeable sound difference between the 2, but for the latter you are paying for 2 mufflers and an X-pipe, while you only pay for one muffler that has a built in crossovver on the first.

I have the 4x9 11" long Magnaflow DI/DO with the integral x-pipe, 2.5" true dual mandrel bent piping, and Catco high flow cats. I don't think it sounds too shabby and has very minimal drone during cruising.
2 mufflers would definitely be a lot louder, and have more drone. But both will sound good if set up correctly.
Here's a couple dyno vids of it to hear it wide open. It was freaking loud in person taking that video trust me lol.

Is anybody sure if this Magnaflow muffler (pn 11379) has the integral x pipe? I've heard both ways..
Reason I ask is, since I'm going to replace my dummied glasspacks soon, I want to put in a true x pipe where my h pipe is now and then add this muffler further back..

According to the description on their web site it does not.
You have to step up to the 18" muffler body before it has the Tru-X core (the integrated X pipe). Magnaflow part number 12468 for the 2.5" DI/DO. This is the one I have and it sounds very nice - mellow, full toned, and enough sound to know something is there without being obnoxious. Might be a little too subdued if you like your exhaust note on the more authoratative side. No sound clip, unfortunately.

Well shoot, looks like my system is without a crossover!
My exhaust guy assured me that the 11379 muffler had the internal x pipe, but I guess not! It sounds great, but I did notice a small loss in low end after converting to the true dual system.
I'm going to call him up tomorrow to see if I can have an H-pipe welded in. Hope I notice a pick up in the low end power. Will there be any difference in sound having the H-pipe added?
