rubber hose

On 02’f150 4x4 5.4.
What is the molded rubber line that runs near the brake booster to the Drivers side of the throttle body housing, along the fire wall? It is marked gas (factory markings), but it appears to be vacuum line. Approxamatly 3/8” id line.

Does it have a particular part number and or name??

Was going to clean the EGR ports on the throttle body housing but when I grabbed this hose it started to crumble . so I held off until I can get this replaced

Proper name: - EvaporitiveEmissionsReturnTube

EVAP hose for short.

Dealership part - Must be fuel, vapor, emissions grade, pre-bent/formed tube. If not, - it will suck shut on yuh and you don't want that.

Flaking and turning your hands black is normal (believe it or not lol), doesn't mean it's bad yet. Clean it up, check it's integrity. They shed by design.

Yes the yellow circled one....excellent photo BTW

would it still hold up to removal & reinstall to clean the EGR ports in the throttle body.
as fast as it was rubbing off I have my doubts

When you remove the TB to clean, -remove that hose completely and clean it up. Use hand cleaner to totally clean the scaling from that hose, then check condition, -visually. You be able to tell if it needs replacing at that point.

What a moron lol, - sounds like he made that one up, - attempting to flea from his own ignormentality. It's actually just fuel vapor hose. But yea, - that's something he should have picked up on as soon as you said "Evaporated Emissions".

That's really beyond stupid IMO, - why are all the service reps this way? How in the hell did they get that job?

I wonder how many times a in the last 6 months he got his *** kicked by a tech. I mean, I'm just about 100% sure that happens.

This is right from Service -

Actually he is a older fella & smaller dealership...prolly stung too many times by getting the wrong part, via a phone conversation. &, Or, it maybe the dealership policy not to get parts ordered via a phone call, (it maybe not getting a part but more returning costs or hanging on to extra inventory)....toss in the possibility of .a new computer program in the mix,...& I can see how that can make one hesitant.
Maybe I wasn't describing it well for him, ( thought I was), maybe our phone connection wasn't very good, cell phone cut out, Maybe the dealership was having difficulty with their phones or computer that day??? IDK

Not trying to defend him or dealership policy...just offering how tight the other persons shoe can fit, so to speak.

Was I frustrated when I couldn't get this item ordered over the phone...yes I was, very much so. I'm also trying to think of the other persons situation.

~~I re-read this thought better of it & added~~

Jbrew...not trying to make you feel bad or flame you or put you in your place or anything...the advice and information you gave me was spot on correct. I am truly grateful for your assistance
