Welding it really is the best way to go.

 

Do yourself a favor and cancel that order.....you will hate that system on the truck as I have one just like yours...the drone is terrible in the 1900-2200 range, and be prepared to take the spare tire down, the pipes run less than an inch from it (I have seen a post where the tire actually caught fire). I took mine back off and it's sitting in the box and put my Corsa SI/SO back on and not looking back. Better milage and NO DROAN. I will agree on one point...the maggie does have a better sound than the corsa on the outside, but the droan kills the liking of the maggie system (16523). In all fairness to Magnaflow and the OP, I do have the hi-Flow cats on this truck, which may contribute to the cabin droan.

 

What do you mean by band clamps? You're saying I should stay away from the clamps that come with the kit?

Yea..I had the Corsa system on..then like an idiot, I put that maggie system on (the 16523) and what a mistake !!!! as I stated earlier, I sure hope the OP has better luck with it, mine is in the box and will become a lawn planter in the spring I suspect. The Corsa is back on to stay for a while at least. The Maggie system needs the 24" muffler and different pipe routing and it would make a good system.

 

Thanks for the advice man, but I'm gonna stick with the 16523 system. I've read a few things regarding drone but it seems to be mostly an issue with the '08s and later. I've heard enough good things to feel comfortable with this system but I do appreciate you giving me your experience. Hopefully I won't have any problems!!

I meant to ask you in my last post what year and size engine you had, thanks for sharing. I'm hoping I won't have any drone issues like you experienced.......we'll see. I'll be sure to let you know how it works out for me once I get it installed, hopefully this weekend.

Awesome man. I'm looking at going the same general direction as your truck. It will primarily be bolt on mods as I plan to stay away from the really in depth mods. My next step is the Gryphon with custom tunes, which I'm super excited about getting. I'm also planning on doing e-fans from FFdynamics and UD pulleys, probably from Troyer, in the spring. Where did you get your UD pulleys from? And, last question, how difficult was the install of the Troyer Performance valve body? Did you notice much improvement, performance wise, with this mod? Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it!!!

 

Just a tip, go ahead and get the Gryphon with just the canned tunes for now..then when you are done with all the mods you are planning..then go ahead and get the custom tunes. I got the UD Pulleys from Troyer. The trans mod only takes the "soft" shifts out of the trans....it makes for a much firmer shifting = LESS WEAR !! Shift points can be adjusted with the Gryphon..just be cautious with that maneuver . Meaning get some input from seasoned programmers (like Bill at PHP) or others on here.

 

I gotcha, but the only mods that would affect custom tunes are my intake and exhaust mods, correct? I can install efans and ud pulleys without having to worry about adjusting custom tunes, right?
