Will an intake throw a code?

Hi, I'm new to this site. I just got an 2004 crewcab with the 4.6. I have been checking out all the post on here, and it's been such a help. I have done searches, and I see that adding an intake commonly causes a code to throw. I've been looking at an s&b intake system. Should I be worried? The truck is completely stock now.

Thanks!

Welcome!

Fortunately you are fine.

An '04 4.6L 2V uses a traditional venturi-style MAF. As such most any intake will not affect it. This is usually NOT the case with a vehicle using a slot-style MAF (like the 04-08 5.4 3V's and the 2007-2008 4.6 2V's).

(The corrollary here is that, lean conditions do not always manifest as a CEL - in many cases only direct A/F wideband measurement will determine the truth.)

Just be aware that you may not notice any SOTP differences...

S&B is a good choice - quality. Don't over-oil the filter media.

Thank you! I've learned so much on here. My ac speeds 1 and 2 stopped working. Did a search on here and found out it was the resistor. I appreciate your input!

might as well do the gotts mod and get a custom tuen with the money you are wanting to waste on an aftermarket intake
