Exhaust tip problem

I took my 2010 scab f150 in yesterday to have it looked at to see if a bullet would fit and be able to come out before the right rear tire. they said that it would work fine but I would have to get a tip that is 8" long or less. So I called them back and asked if a 12" long one would work, they said no. So do you guys think they are telling me the wrong thing. I just cant understand why I couldnt put a longer tip on.

(not having seen the 2010 exhaust), i'll venture a guess and tell you the main pipe is likely very close to the side of the truck where the new tip will exit.

I did exhaust on a 2010 about two weeks ago, there is plenty of room, unless they can't use a pipe bender well.

I'll have to measure it but the last time I looked at it there was atleast a foot or more. I'll measure it tomorrow.

I just went out and measured it, I got oubout 2 feet from the center of the pipe to the side of the truck. Can someone tell me why a 12" or longer tip wouldnt work?
