help with deciding on a intake

i just got a 5 inch suspension lift on my 2001 4.6L v8 150. shortly after putting this lift on i realized how much of a hit my MPG got. i am thinking of getting a cold air intake system for increased power and MPG. can anyone give me a good reccomendation on a specific brand? all help is greatly appriciated!

so you castrated your truck and you think that adding a cai will replace the need for a regear

x2 on the gotts intake mod and a regear

The Koolaid is tasty, isn't it?

Please stop watching Trucks!, Shady Tree Idiots, and Tow Morons in Their Garage.

Go to any after market intake website and look for the MPG guarantee (if you find one - please post it). While you're at it, look at the dyno sheets and note the RPMs required for the hp gains.

I won't be as brash as some on here but yes if you just put a lift and tires on your truck a CAI isn't going to do anything for your MPG's. Best way to get it back is as mentioned regear (if you haven't, but you didn't say you did). The only thing more expensive than regearing a truck after a lift and bigger tires, is not regearing after doing a lift and bigger tires.

^^^ yes... I think the re-gearing + getting a custom php tune instead of the CAI.

hey now i can't help it if the peterbilt and kenworth i drive average only get 4.5 mpg lol. i wish there was a way to get them to achieve better mileage. i think i need to look into mgd's fandangled performance chip.

op if you think a cai will bring your mpg back you are way off. what do you think happens when you take your truck and increase its frontal area and make it bigger with a lift and bigger tires?? you make a bigger brick to push the wind out of your way. look into a regear at least to bring your rpms back into an area of your powerband where your truck doesnt have to work to hard.
