Question about Gotts Mod with Edge
Question about Gotts Mod with Edge
Well i have decided to get rid of the Spectre intake, i can really tell it is hurting the performance of the truck in the 105 degree weather. I am going to do the gotts mod with the stock intake. Question is do i need to set my edge back to stock before removing the neg battery cable for 30 mins or so? Or can i leave it on level 2 and disconnect the battery? IS there any chancr that disconnecting the battery with the edge will trigger my pats system again?
1. Congrats on finally listening
2. No need to disconnect the batt. Adaptive will adjust in time during normal driving. This will also alleviate any 'disconnect' concerns.
3. IF yer disconnecting as a safe work practice - good idea, that - just remove yer Edge from the OBDII port. The loaded tune will be fine in the PCM. Reconnect the batt and the Edge and initialize in the normal fashion (see manual) when ye done.

HANG ON a second, sir!
I just realized you have an '03 - you MUST disconnect the battery since you will be disconnecting the MAF sensor harness to the PCM for reinstallation into the stock intake. And the IAT sensor, which is less of a concern, but still prudent.
It is always a safe bet to cut power when doing this. See my item # 3 in the post above.
Sorry about that, bud.

to be safe i would change the edge back to stock. you will re-set the computer if you disconnect it for that long. but i dont see the concern to disconnect it, just change the intake and let it ride. the MAF will adjust also itself since it wont be on when you do the change.

But - if it makes you more comfortable, by all means do so.

j/k thanks for the helpto be safe i would change the edge back to stock. you will re-set the computer if you disconnect it for that long. but i dont see the concern to disconnect it, just change the intake and let it ride. the MAF will adjust also itself since it wont be on when you do the change.

and yes, i was saying pretty much to do it to be safe.
My personal feeling that when you needlessly change tunes back and forth, you are risking more than not changing due to the possibility of a weak battery. The tuners requile a full battery charge and if it hangs up during a tune change, that is when you REALLY have a problem.
