Cool exhaust help, i want this right the first time.

most of us are on a budget and want the best sounding exhaust without spending a boat load of cash. of course this isnt a $50 setup but you get the idea.
what i want to do is a true dual exhaust. i plan to run:
2 HIGH FLOW CATS

2 MAGNAFLOW BULLETS

1 MAGNAFLOW X-OVER

2 3.5x18 double wall SS tips
still looking for tips.

now i been reading how routing the pipes makes all the difference also. id like to get this planned out so either i can fab this up or take my plans to a shop and have them weld it up. so what is there to know about exiting, routing and lengths? placement of the X over? placement of bullets (thought i read right after the cab)? placement of high flows? and finally the exit? you guys are saying right before the tires correct?
other than that, is there anything else i should know before diving into this?
i plan to keep the front 2 stock CATS for now.

thanks!
i know this has been beaten down lately but id like to get this right the first time.

Parts look good, but those are called magnapacks not bullets. Exit? Depends on what you want. The absolute best sound is with tips (that you have) exiting in front of the rear tire. This is also the loudest inside and outside. Second to that would be ran straight out the back or 45ed behind the rear tires, with tips. When planning exits, always plan for tips. With out tips, you will be disappointed. The worse exit is the dump. After the muffler or over the axle and then dumped. It doesn't sound good. Like Mig said, exhaust is supposed to be routed to the outside of the vehicle not under it, and it happens to sound the best that way too. Watch the tube to see the difference in side exit, and out the back.

So... what exactly are you looking for?

Forgot... X pipe goes as far forward as you can get it. Usually in the position of your stock Y pipe is perfect. Placement of the mufflers? They usually go farthest rearward to reduce interior drone, and to cut back on crackle sound. If you exit in front of the rear tire, the interior drone is a draw back, but damn it sounds good!

Hope this helps.

What size pipe are you planning on running? 2.25" for MAX low-end torque curve, 2.5" for MAX mid-high torque curve and a little better sound.

Exit: In front of the rear tire for the best sound, but most drone. 90 degrees (under bumper) or 45 behind each tire for less drone and a great loud sound echoing off buildings, cars, people, etc. Bullets as far BACK as possible (towards bed) 2.25" for low end tq gains, 2.5" for top end gains. X pipe goes where the original Y pipe was (where the 2 pipes connect to make the Y) Why are you going to run the 2 front stock cats and 2 high flows? I would chop out all 4 and run the 2 high flows, unless your strict on the sniffer test. I would do dual magnapacks over dual bullets personally. I only like 3" single bullets.

Everything looks good. Just for future reference, those are Magnapacks. Great muffler choice.

My Maggie High Flows, X-pipe, and Dynomax Bullets with 2.5" piping all around, go on this week i'll have a video up. I have about $300 invested in this already and thats before the excess pipe and install of everything. Granted about $50 of it is in shipping cost. And just a side note if I were you I'd delete the rear cats and replace the front 2 with high flows. My truck only has the 2 cat system so i'm set to go on that.

Another option if you want your truck to be loud and sound great is to leave only the 2 cats nearest the motor and run 2 separate pipes, true dualed, with no x- or y- pipe and put them straight out the back 45ed behind the tires with no muffler. That is what i have. It gives your truck a great strong sound and it can be deep when you want it and pop when you want it. It is the best exhaust option imo.

thanks guys, i got the great choice or magnapacks from watching all your videos.

currently THIS is the exhaust i have on it now. the drone doesn't bother me one bit but i guess its not loud at all. i still have all 4 cats on it. im just curious how much louder is it going to be compared to my current exhaust? less drone is a good thing to me. right now, if i roll the windows down the tires drowned out the sound so if it much louder i can deal with it.
id like to get MID range power so 2.5 inch sounds ideal for me. so maybe have it exit right BEHIND the rear tires on both sides? is it much difference if they are 45 degrees or 90 shooting behind the tires? if its not that much different from behind to front of the tire ill def. go in front for better sound. as for preference of placement, it dont matter to me. right now they exit straight outback of the truck.

no reason for leaving the stock front cats, i just thought i read you guys were leaving them on is all. i have no SMOG inspection so that isnt a issue.

Leave your 2 cats and cut off your 2 resonators. Infront of the tire and behind the tire will make a difference in sound as will 45'd and 90'd

^ They are all cats, not resonators.
