Air intake

I just bought a 2010 F150 and I am looking at an AirAid cold air intake and it says that I need a computer tune if I install it. I have heard that I do and I do not need to do the computer tune. I checked and it's going to cost a good chunk of money to do the tune and I just want to know for sure before I buy it. Can somebody please answer this once and for all?

Welcome to the site.

Do you have a link to this after market intake?

What are you trying to accomplish by replacing the stock intake (which is a cold air intake and provides more than enough air for your engine)?

Add some HP and gain some gas mileage if I can.

I'd wait for a kit that is truly a "Cold" intake, instead of getting warm air from the engine bay. Better yet see how other 2010's benefit from them. Just my 2c.

S&B & Volant have the 2010 F-250 out now, so I'm sure the model for the 150's will not be too long until some numbers start coming in.

Have not really kept up to date with the 2010 myself.... you might just be spending $$$ for nothing if the intake you have on there now is sufficient.

Congrats on the truck!

Look at the dyno sheet...nearly identical to stock until 3200 RPMs. Won't be saving much gas at 3200 RPMs.

It's also very likely the dyno run was done with the hood up and large fans blowing on the engine (to assist in cooling). Hardly the way you drive down the road though.

Lastly, does the filter provide as much filtration as the stock filter? I couldn't find any data on Airaid's site).

IMHO, it's not worth it. I'd save my money and get a programmer with custom tunes and keep the stock intake.
