I am trying to prepare my truck for inspection and my Cat and both o2 sensors are not ready. I am not pulling any codes or engine light signals. Could someone tell me the best and most accurate drive cycle. I have seen the one on the obdii website and the one in my manual, neither has worked yet. I was wondering if someone could give me the proper drive cycle for a 2004 f150, 5.4l Supercrew.

How many monitors have passed? In arizona you need only 5 of the 8 in order to pass... Best thing to do is just take it on a good drive.

I am not familiar with what that is, and i am just buying the truck how can i check to see if one has been installed?

 

cats, or catalytic converters will be installed in-line with your exhaust system, stock. Unless someone has taken them out, they will be there. I think IR0NS1N is referring to having a brand new cat put on your truck.

How old is the truck you're taking to have inspected? If you just warm the cats up (drive about 5-7 miles) and you're truck isn't throwing codes, you should be fine. Why are you so worried?

 

Ok, i know cat converter is just was confused it was something else. They are still there and to my knowlege never been replaced. Just worried cause i can't actually buy it till it clears for readiness. Just wondering if there was anything i could do in the mean time.

 

put one pint of rubbing alcohol in with 15 gallons of gas and you will pass with flying colors and it wont hurt your truck been doing this for years.

 

I wouldnt put rubbing alcohol in your engine. If you have no codes and no pending codes you'll be fine. Driving is the only way to get the truck to test the cat and 02 sensors.
