exhaust on a 4.2L V-6 STX

Okay, so I know plenty of you are going to wanna stray me from the "exhaust on a V-6" idea, but there has to be something that sounds better than stock. All I'm looking for is a decent tone, nothing ridiculously loud or anything. A guy I know that owns a muffler shop suggested a series 40 Flowmaster muffler that I'm planning on getting put on Friday. Is there anything else I could add on that would improve the sound? or is there another muffler that would sound better?

flowmaster will probably sound the "best" on a v6.

I would listen to your muffler guy! If you listen to me and half of the guys on here, then you would have a stock exhaust for a long time. ha ha

Pay no mind to the folks that discourage an exhaust on a V6. You already know that it'll never sound like a V8. But if you want some sound, flowmaster seems to have the best results giving that throaty sound that a V6 lacks. The trick is to go for sound quality as opposed to volume. If you just want noise, go with a glasspack or straight pipe. Magnaflow may be a good option. It'll be more mellow than a flowmaster, but with plenty of sound.

magnaflow no. straight through mufflers on a v6 make it sound like a ford focus. you want that?

^ ha ha You could try a flowmaster 50. It will be quieter than the 40, and give you some rumble.

Search youtube. I have heard plenty of sound clips on the V6 f150, in my opinion, they all sound like crap. The V6 just doesn't have a good sound, a honda sounds better.

If you really are going to get the exhaust just go with the 40. It will sound the least crappy out of all V6 possiblitys
