Best intake for my motor?
Gotts = best bank / buck. Period. And - it is already fully-enclosed.
Steer clear of any warm air intake (WAI) like K&N's and Scphincters (cheap fleabay crap).
Choose Volant if you like yer intake to melt underhood and lie down above 4,000 rpm. Utter junk.
If you simply must spend $$$ on one, choose S&B. But, I would save that $$ and invest it in a custom progammer.
OP - do some research on here befoe buying. Check out the Tech articles / How-to section as well. Will save you needless expense.
Do NOT expect any real gains from an intake (or an exhaust). The best approach is to keep yer IAT's down and go for tuning to extract some additional power (and vastly improve shifting & driveability).

Your not going to gain much with an air intake on a 4.6
I know it seems cool to put one of them on there, but I have not seen a dyno sheet that can show a nice gain in the bottom end of the rpm band which is where you use a truck. If you are drag racing, or something, then okay, but for pulling a boat and hauling junk, it just isn't there. Sounds cool to hear them roar when you stand on them.
So if you are set on spending money, just understand that it is more for sound and show than for go.
I have always just modded the factory box, or went to a salvage yard and buy another one and mod it, and keep the factory one for when I traded it. Still got more rumble, but for much less money.
