Tomorrow finally but need last minute opinions

Looks like tomorrow is the day I get my exhaust done. Black 2000 7700 XLT with the 5.4. Regular cab long bed. My 2 Magnaflow converters arrived today and the JBA shorty headers have been here for a week. The shop said they were slow and could get me in tomorrow. I had originally asked about true duals but the manager didnt really want to so said thery would do a si/do. He told me that he would be away this week and the guy doing the work on my truck is their best with custom work. Today I stopped in to talk to him and he surprised me a little when he suggested exactly what you guys have all been saying...Take off all 4 cats and replace them with the 2 94106 converters and then run true duals. Right now we are going to run straight pipes and since we do not have an X pipe, we wont be adding one BUT he also said that if and when I decide that the straight pipes are too loud or I just dont like the sound, bring it back and he will add the X as well as whatever mufflers I want. I guess I wont mind hearing what it sounds like with straight pipes so I know what I want to change and find out if its really too loud or just not clean enough. Right now I also want to take advantage of them having their guy free and not rushed for the day. Right now it runs through a si/do flowmaster 50 then exits at 45's through 4" angled tips. I kind of like that exit so will probably stay with that. Those tips are pretty old and beat up so I will be getting new ones. The biggest they had were the 3 1/2" X18" angled tips. If I want to go with 4" I will have to wait and have them put on later because I would have to order them. I was thinking I wanted the 4" but maybe it doesnt matter.
Feel free to comment on that set up. Id like as much input as possible tonight. I know most of you will be against the straight pipes but its probably temporary anyway. I also know most of you are against the shorties. Mainly they are to solve the problem of cracking manifolds. This is the 3rd time they have cracked. What are the chances of a CEL with this setup?? Ill order a crossover to be put on later. From what I am reading here, the X is preferable to the H. The guy seems very confident but is also open to my suggestions so any tips you have I can probably pass along without offending him.
Thank you all for your help and opinions.

Looks like if I order from Summit in the next 2 hrs I can get a stainless X pipe delivered here after noon tomorrow. Is it worth the extra shipping to have it here when the rest of it is built or is it not that big of a deal to have an X pipe?
Thanks

You do need some sort of crossover. I would have the shop build you an H pipe if you dont want to pay/wait for the X. As far as CEL, make sure the A:F plugs are still plugged in(before the pre cats) and the O2 sensors in front of the new high flows. You might need extensions.

yes true duals, x pipe, remove precats, install 94106's and no mufflers. The no muffler part is just temporary until I decide how much I want to quiet it. I assume I will want something but probably not a lot. I do want it loud but dont want it to sound cheap.

Youll probably end up putting bullets on it.

I know. I am really trying to be open minded. I guess if "everyone" is doing it, then either it must sound good to a lot of people or else there is some real good advertising being done! Seriously, I know that Youtube can only do just so much. I kind of know what sound Im looking for but Im hoping I can figure out what is lacking and describe it or "find it" after I hear exactly what the straight pipes sound like. I seriously doubt Ill be happy with that sound. It just sounds dirty and unfinished to me. Ill know more when I hear it tomorrow. Then there is the issue of tips. I might just hold off on tips til I decide on mufflers too. Actually they had some 3 1/2 inch black angled tips that looked sharp too. He said they are stainless. The black tips might look cool with the black truck.

Of course, I suggest Borla Pro XS mufflers...haha, but I'm biased.

I ran OBX Long Tube headers into 94106 cats, O2 sensor before and after each cat and still threw a P0420 and P0430. Check out the Gotts O2 sensor mod https://www.f150online.com/forums/ex...-mod-pics.html I started out with both non-foulers and no codes, went down to one non-fouler on each and no codes so far. I ran the LT headers with 94106 cats and an x-pipe dual exit before the passenger wheel and it was loud all the time and drone city.... but it was awesome.

Here are some quick vids of when mine was done

Thats good to know for the future thanks! Have you dynoed with the LTs, 94106s, X piped dual exhaust and custom tune? Gotta be around 315. You should get 410 gears and it would be a torque monster.

Did you keep the straight pipes or add mufflers?

No Dyno, I'm not done yet Stage II cams and custom tunes from PHP are in the works. I'm going to do 4.56 gears with a 5" RCD lift and 34" Toyo MT before winter.
