I have a 99 5.4 f150 and I am plannig on running true duals after the cats with h pipe crossover into twin 12'' dynomax bullets. I was wondering wether this would sound good or not and you guys opinon on it.

H-Pipe will be louder than an X-Pipe and choppier sounding. X-Pipe will perform better and sound smoother - more "VROOOMish"

I am just going with the h pipe because the guy at the exhaust shop said it would help in towing and I plan on doing some heavy towing with my camper so is this true or would the x pipe still be better.

They really don't make any difference power wise, sound is the difference, and unless you like the pop bang snap sound... You might wnat to go with the X pipe.

He actually got it backwards, but that only applies to vehicles with a symmetrical exhaust system. An H-pipe is better than real true duals, but an X-pipe is better in every way than the H-pipe on an asymmetric exhaust system.

As far as sound, it's all subjective. The H-pipe sounds deeper and more aggressive than the X-pipe. The X-pipe has a smoother, but higher pitched note, and IMO sounds better.

Well i want as close to straight pipe sound as I can get legally and I have even thought about running the pipe straight through the bullet just so that it looks legal but idk if they can do that or not or even if it is possible. My bullets should get in thursday and I plan to take it friday to get it done. so i am trying to decied before i take it and regret it after i get done so if yall have anymore suggestions they would apprecaited. Thanks

If you are set on the loudness of bullets, you will want to use a smaller pipe. If you are going to tow heavy, you will loose some bottom end torque low in the RPM range with bullets. If you use smaller pipe, you can still have it loud and not loose as much bottom end.
I have never used an X pipe, but from what I have seen, they are better than H. An H is better than nothing. I have always used an H because my muffler guy says it is easier for him to do, and he won't do the X.

If I ever do a dual setup again, I am going to stay with smaller diameter pipe to keep my lower RPM power where I want it.

He won't lose any low end with a straight-through muffler as long as it is properly sized for the application.
