Any Nitemares with stock exhaust?
Any Nitemares with stock exhaust?
Newbie here! I just bought a 2007 Nitemare (#55 out of 100) and was hoping to find someone else with one that had the stock exhaust on it. When I bought my truck it had an aftermarket exhaust on there, and part of the deal was for them to replace it with the original Roush exhaust. Somehow "original Roush exhaust" got translated into "off road Roush exhaust" and it is way too loud for me. I want to be able to hear the supercharger whine but I literally can't with this exhaust!
So my question basically is whether or not the "legal" system Roush sells on their webiste:

Is the original one to the Nitemare trucks? If so I think I'm going to buy it myself rather than fighting with the dealer... Having said that, I'll have a brand new Roush off-road exhaust for sale in a few weeks if anyone is interested
Any thoughts or input would be awesome. Thanks!

I'll post pics tomorrow morning. The tips are 4" all the way through, they do not taper down to 2.5" like I've read on other sites. I'll try to take a vid as well to show how incredibly loud it is. I can't tell if the cats are aftermarket or not, but the cats are definitely in there.
Here are some pics. The last one is taken inside the exhaust tip, just so you can see that it's 4" all the way until it meets up with the pipe coming off the muffler. Let me know what you guys think. I'm on the verge of buying the "legal" system from Roush but I want to make sure that's what I need first.

Thanks!
Thanks!
Here's a vid of the exhaust on start up and a couple of revs. It's so loud that my wife could feel it when I rev'ed the engine. I'm thinking something else is different with the exhaust system since it is so loud. I just hope buying the "legal" version is the right thing to do.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Yep -- that's pretty loud!
I agree -- if that were my truck, I'd want to tone it down a notch and be able to hear the sweet purr of that supercharger.

Sounds like hi-flow cats have been swapped in, but I haven't really heard any blown trucks with a Roush O/R exhaust. You really won't get any difference going to the legal system, not worth the money at all.
Why not just replace the muffler. Magnaflow has si/do versions that would bolt up to your existing pipes. I'd get something longer than you have and cut the inlet pipe down to fit it. Any muffler shop should be able to get a larger muffler on there with those pipes. This one would probably quiet it down a good bit.
All - thanks for the great replies, I really do appreciate it!
05SilvrFX4 - Yes, that was a cold start.
After reading more online got under the truck and found only 2 cats, not 4, so what everyone is saying definitely fits with there being high flow cats in there. I dropped the truck off at one of the local shops and they said based on hearing me pulling in it had high flow cats.
Once I pick the truck back up I'll post here what is going on. Thanks again for all of the response!
