obx long tube questions

Im planning on picking up the obx setup to fix a bad manifold leak. i just a few questions about some things ill need.

The o2 sensor extensions- i found the bbk ones for the mustang, but theyre only 12". is that going to be enough? i read on a couple pages thats what some guys are using, but i just wanted to be sure.

The other thing is i wanted to replace my front o2 sensors while i have them out. can someone suggest what brand/ part number i should go with?

thanks in advance, and my truck is a 2001 5.4 if that makes any difference.

i was recommended to purchase the bbk 1676's
bought 4 of them, two pairs
they go in today so ill let you know how it goes
it says theyre 12" but come out to 14" and you shouldn't have any problems length wise

for front o2 sensors pretty sure its been mentioned before so a good thorough search should find it

My 08 needed extensions for 3 of the oxygen sensors
I used all four considering i paid for two sets and just to make things easier
Did the gotts o2 mod and she no longer runs lean or pulls codes
truck sounds absolutely amazing
open headers was scary loud like a v8 speedboat or hot rod
truck seems to be getting a good 1-2mpg more and definitely has a lot more get up and go, custom tunes will get the most out of these as will a good dual exhaust setup

I needed extensions for 3 of my 4 oxygen sensors although I did it myself. I also did the gotts o2 mod on the rear o2 sensors and never once had a code pop up.

i agree when i installed a set on a 2001 5.4 the extenders were used on the rear, and i had to modify one of the connectors on the extenders because the male side of the extender wouldnt plug into the female side of the engine harness. Just had to grind down the alignment tab on it.

I did plan on doing true duals- xpipe into 12" bullets with 4x18 tips out the rear. Should be screaming loud right?

Thanks everyone else for the replies

With a 12" bullet your in for some insanely loud sound
Mine is an 18" muffler both bullets and even that is loud
Fatherford has an 18" and i believe is going to a 22-24" muffler
The truck is louder than any titan or dodge ive heard with any cat back exhaust

My setup is as follows:
OBX Long tube headers w/resonators
Magnaflow replica x-pipe (ebay)
2 18" mufflers
2 4x18 tips

I did the gotts o2 mod on the rear 2 sensors and extended all four wires with bbk 1676 harness extensions

You probably wont need 3 or 4 since yours is an 01 but i had to since mine is an 08 and none of my sensors would have reach except for one on the rear

goodluck and enjoy!

So you think I should go with the 18" bullet instead? I don't want it to be annoying, but the open super 40 just ain't doing it for me anymore. I did do a rear cat delete, but I still want something cleaner

I'd probably do 3" with a single bullet from the Y back

but X and 2.5" and twin bullets is a good setup too

I already have the x pipe and tips, I didn't order the mufflers yet so I'll probably go with the 18" bullets
