Cost to install shorty headers?

Hi all, I just bought ceramic coated pacesetter shorties. I don't have the time or the patience to install them myself lol.

My question is,

HAS ANYONE HAD SHORTY HEADERS INSTALLED ON BY A SHOP AND HOW MUCH DID IT COST?

The cost can vary. Find a local performance shop and get a quote from them. I'm guessing that it will be 2-4 hours of labor.

i would guess that it would/should be no more than what it would cost to r&r the exhaust manifolds since they are basically a replacement for the manifolds without modifying the front pipe.

Just thought id let everyone know how much it ended up costing me to have a shop install the shorty headers. 7 hours labor at $50.00 an hour. New EGR tube $75.00 and the fitting was $35.00. Every stud holding the old exhaust manifolds on needed to be heated up to get out. Some even needed nuts welded on the them to get them out because they broke. They also ran into a problem with space so they unbolted some engine mounts and had to lift the motor. With Taxes and all it was $496.80.

I think you should have just done it yourself. I don't think I could ever live with myself if I payed someone almost $500 for just labor.

Unfortunately it wasnt. The headers from summit racing were $400 and the install was $496.80. Believe me, I almost SH*T my pants when they told me the price. I went in this thinking it would be anywhere from 150-300 bucks. Not one of my prouder moments.

So $1000 to have shorty headers installed?

God I'm glad I can do my own work...

I just did a transmission in a 1992 Chevy 1500 and I told myself that I would never do that again because of how hard it was. I looked at my F150 stock manifolds and said, This is gunna be as hard and time consuming as the trany. All of you are right though. I should have found some time to do it myself. I got impatient, but I promise the next upgrade is gunna be by my hands. Hopefully this thread will help others out that are thinking of having this done by a shop. I asked around first (believe me) but NO ONE had an answer for me of how much this job would be. Shops even told me that they couldnt give me an accurate quote because they always run into things.

How do you like them so far? Any change in the sound of your exhaust?

Pulling a transmission out of a 1992 chevy 1500 is hard?

I can pull a tranny out of one of those in under 30 minutes. You must not have the right tools for the job.

Hell my old 86 F-150 with a big block I could pull the engine and transmission out of it in 15 minutes...

I paid about $350 to have my JBA's installed at my buddy's shop. Took the guy almost all day to remove my leaking manifolds and replace them with the shorties. When he was all done he said he probably wouldn't take the same job on again in the future lol.
