So my Long tubes come in the mail Monday morning and they look fantastic
I was just reading through the Dynatech instructions of the installation and had a few questions regarding to those who have already installed the OBX long tubes on their trucks.
The package comes with 2 headers, drivers (left) and passengers (right), resonator with crossover pipe, resonator from the passenger header, y pipe, header gaskets, 6 bolts to connect the headers to the resonators.
So here are my questions:
Did you use o2 extensions or did you extend them yourself? If so, how difficult?
Dynatech uses gasket donuts in their installation, did you buy some and use them for the OBX system? Or was it a direct bolt on?
How many reused the stock nuts and studs? or would it be a safer bet to buy some stage 8/ford racing locking nuts
What brand of anti seize did you use?
Did you have to plug any of the o2 sensor bungs?
Truck is an 08 FX4 F150 with 22,000 on her, bought in Dec. 08

I extended them myself. You asking me tells me you have never extended wires before, therefore to a new person It would be difficult without some good hands on instruction.
I used the OBX head/flange gaskets and their donut gaskets for the header collectors. I have had no problems with leaking.
I used my factory studs/nuts. Checked them after about 1000 miles of driving when I put my torque converter in and they have not budged.
Do you mean penetrating fluid? Just whatever I had laying around the shop. Don't remember the brand.
Yes, there is one in the Y pipe and one in the cross over that I plugged. Use some spark plug non foulers found in the help section. Fill them full of JB weld.

Which o2 extenders should I use, most every search brings up mustang headers, some also say mustang, f150.

I have true dual exhaust so I had to modify my set up a little, but the OBX set up has 6 bungs for o2 sensors. I didnt have to plug any as when I set mine up I cut off the pipes before the last 2. I used gotts o2 mod for the rear oxygen sensors and have had zero problems at all.
For the non foulers I got them at Napa (brand:Balkamp / part number:BK 7302443)
Drivers side I was able to take the manifold out no problem, passanger side I had to take all the studs out but like 2 in order to get it out. I used the obx gaskets and reused stock studs/nuts for headers.
I'm wondering if there will be a day they quit selling those?
O2 sensors are easy to extend, a white wire, black wire, and 2 gray wires. I made mine 18" longer which was more then enough.

I might just get some o2 extenders to be safe, think the 14" will be enough?
Im planning on going the true dual route as well so ill do the same, just cut off the last 2 bungs which will be unnecessary or just plug them and weld where the y pipe would b
For the gotts o2 mod, only the rear sensors will need to be modified correct?
Um 14" may work I did 18 to be safe. Yes all you do is cut the wires (4 per o2 sensor) and then I stripped each wire, and attached longer wire with butt connectors. I only had to do 3 of the 4 oxygen sensors.
For Gotts you need 2 packets of spark plug foulers (so you have 4 foulers total), and its only the rear o2 sensors. The front are before the cats so it doesnt need foulers them so leave them alone. The rears you are tricking the computer into thinking the cats are there wti hte foulers. gotts says use a 1/2" to make the holes bigger, but with my o2 sensors I had to make them a little bit bigger.

Well ill disagree on the butt connectors and say heat shrink and solder IMO the 02's are in a high moisture, high vibration area and I would want the best connection possible running to the computer.
In reality, either would work. I'm just a little paranoid on stuff like that I guess.
