Over-Oil An Air Filter?
Over-Oil An Air Filter?
Who else has done it? What did you do about it? So far, I've thrown a couple of packs of silica gel into it, stuffed crumpled newspaper, and wrapped the outside in newspaper. My hopes are that the silica gel will absorb excess moisture and that the newspaper will soak up any oil which might otherwise get sucked into the intake tube and foul the MAF sensor. My next step is to duct tape the filter over the end of a vacuum hose, and suck free whatever excess oil is left.

1. Wash it.
2. Re-oil. Properly this time

Also, I would clean the MAF regardless. I do it as preventative maintenance about every 30,000 or so.

I re-washed mine and very very lightly sprayed a fine mist of oil on it. I took off and cleaned my maf sensor & throttle body and re-installed them and had the truck up and running better than it had been before as it has a little more pep and actaully coasts alot better.
The oil didn't come in a spray bottle. It was one of those bottles with a flip top that you squeeze (like light fluid). Trust me. I didn't want to do it. It wasn't a "Mr. Science" experiment. Sort of like unwanted kids - it just happened!
