What should I expect to pay?

Ok guys, the weather is getting warmer, and the windows being down is starting to be a staple while driving around.......I WANT MY EXHAUST BACK!!! haha

For those of you who don't know, here is my exhaust saga since buying my truck roughly 16 months ago:

First, had the stock muffler chopped off and a y-pipe put in, then run out at 45 degree angles into 3.5" slash cut tips.

Wasn't loud enough.

So a couple months later I had it turned into true-duals.

Still not loud enough.

This past August, ordered some Magnaflow 94106 Hi-Flow cats, replaced the stock cats.

Loud enough! Haha

As a matter of fact, too loud. I loved it, but one day I got so frustrated with it (in December) that I stopped at a local exhaust shop on a whim (had no plans of doing this) and told them to turn it back to stock, so they did.

The guy pointed out that the shop that ran my true duals had used 2.25" pipe, and replaced it all from the where the stock y-pipe was after the headers back with 2.5" pipe, which ran into a y he made not far past where the stock y-pipe would have been. Also a muchhhh better job than the previous shop had done, looked like a 3 year old had been given a welder and a bunch of small pieces of pipe...my true duals almost zig-zagged to the back of the truck.

Then he put a factory style muffler on it, and ran a 2.5" tailpipe out the passenger side, and voila - quiet as the day she was born.

And yes, in less than a year I spent close to $1k all told and ended up with the same exhaust...:o

Now, I want some sound back. However, I need to keep the cost down. I am considering two options right now:

#1: Just cut the muffler off (and keep it should I ever want it again) and throw a 4" rolled tip on the passenger side only at a 45. A buddy of mine in Auburn that is a member here did this (cosmetically, he has a flowmaster muffler), and it doesn't look bad at all. I also ran a single pipe exhaust for a long time on one of my Chevys, never bothered me too much. And plus it could be upgraded easily to become duals.

#2: Cut the muffler out, and run a y-pipe going into 2 4" rolled tips at 45's. This is obviously the end result I want.

I am counting on volume being decreased over the true dual setup I had due to it only being y'ed or just being a single pipe, and the raspyness and popping to be decreased because of the combination of the sides, I had no x-pipe on the true duals.

Anyhow, anybody care to throw out some estimates on what they think I should pay for #1 or #2? I hope to get it done sometime this week, and I'll be sure to throw up a video!
