just installed K&N cai.
Just a update, that this afternoon we installed the K&N cold air intake on my08 FX4, and all i can say is wow!!! The sound is awesome, under full throttle it reminds me of a four barrel carb sucking air. I am currently running my edge evolution in trans mode and with the cai the results are great, i really like the feeling of the firmer shifts when passing. ok well thanks for listening!! any other tips or info will be appreciated.
K&N cold air intake pics.
This is a response to gator crew's request for some pic's in my photo album of my cold air intake install last week. After the install i realized i should have spent the extra 45 bucks and got the stainless tube, oh well!! I am really pleased with the sound the tube produces under load, and i do notice better throttle response with it. any suggestions on a exhaust system would be great.

sound difference between SS and Plastic?

I was trying to decide between the plastic and the stainless steel (SS) tube for my CAI. I looked on K&N's website and found that the SS produces about 4hp less than the plastic. I agree, the stainless looks a lot better, but will it sound much different? Or is the the 4hp extra worth going plastic? Any thoughts are appreciated.

even if its 4hp, (and i doubt it) does 4hp really matter?

The K&N's are already middling unexceptional performers (manufacturer's BS marketing claims not withstanding, sorry about yer luck). But - at least they are better than Volant Model # P.O.S

The tubes are either polyethylene or Aluminum ( OOoooooo! - Shiney, lol!) - NOT stainless. As such, aluminum is the absolute worst material for an intake tube. Period.
Stick with the polyethylene.
Gotts mod ($10) would have been a much better choice. About the same results (remember - K&N filter flow NO better than a stock element on a stock N/A truck - a fact, and nothing special about that tubing is going to account fer much either).
Some research could have saved you some dineroonies fer brown-pops, y'all.

I do notice alot better throttle response with the k&n, but what i really like is the deep sound the tube produces under full throttle, it kinda reminds me of a four barrel carb kicking in. just my .02 cents worth.
