I have a 2005 F150 4.6L Super Cab Flare Side STX 2WD. I have the Evolution Edge 15051. Most likely I'll buy a Magnaflow SIDO exhaust system this week.

I'm looking for an affordable cold air intake system for my truck. Spectra doesn't seem to make one for the 05, 4.6L. Any recommendations? I thought I read somewhere that cold air intakes can ruin a motor. Is this true? Will I need a custom tune?

You are fine because you have a 2v 4.6 The 3V 5.4's are the issue, primarily 04-05 and some 06's. I would still recommend getting your edge turned into a gryphon though to take full advantage of your performance mods.

IF Your 4.6 used a slot-style MAF like the 5.4's .... But think that only started in 2007 - so you should be safe....

You may just consider doing the Gotts Mod (see the Tech How-to Section) and calling it a day. Inexpensive.
