Welcome to the board!

It's too bad you weren't on the forum before you purchased.

Gotts mod will accomplish as much as the intake and will cost a lot less.

Is a tuner required? No, but it will give you a lot more bang for your buck.

The Gotts Mod looks pretty cut and dry.I kinda like the look of the spectre CAI.Was also
looking into a tumer but if one is not required the I will get my Belstein shocks to level the front of the truck.

From what I've read on here, a tuner might be required for the 5.4l 3v motors when installing a cold air intake because it causes it to run lean. I'm sure someone will chime in that actually has a 5.4l 3v and CAI though to confirm.

Hello & good evening to you sir!

This is direct from VMP Tuning's website - VMP Tuning is a highly respected & competent Ford Custom SCT tuner:

"We can tune for different cold air intakes on 05+ Mustangs and 04+ F150s. Any aftermarket intake that flows well and puts the slot-style MAF sensor into a larger less restrictive housing is going to REQUIRE a tune for the vehicle to run properly. Intakes that do not require a tune are often just as restrictive as stock and do not result in large power gains."

So - if the Spectre isn't any more restrictive (and looking at the design I'd say it isn't), then tuning would be HIGHLY recommended.

**EDIT** - sorry, I corrected the above from 'less' to 'more' - my apologies - gettin' old & feeble, lol

You can contact Justin Starkey for more info : www.vmptuning.com. This too, is HIGHLY recommended. He will know specifics on this intake most folks will not. Like how much the MAF TF is affected, power gains if any, etc.

I sincerely hope this helps you.

Cheers & Bests!

the spectre i have has i sleeve that fits in around the maf to make the volume of air in that part the same as oem. im not sayin that it is the same, but with that and not running the truck hard or at wot it should last (least till php gets my tunes ready) also i thought the 08's didnt have the problem of running lean?

MGDfan, i as well sir miss the version 1.0 and wish to re-instate on occasion. Plus i have tendencies to be ignant (symptom of my ingancy) which cause me to think other cai might be as good as my gott's mod.

for the op, gott's works well but so does the spectre. since you have a 2008 your not in dier need of a tune but highly recommend it!
