How do I get better gas Mileage

I have an F150 V8 5.4L, I'm thinking about getting a Cold Air Intake and maybe getting a performance Chip. Will This inprove my gas mileage and is it worth the money, and where is the best place to get them?

You will very likely not save enough to offset the cost.

Intake - very marginal power /mileage gains. Some risks if you choose poorly, depending upon vehicle.

Programmer (04+ cannot use a 'chip') - again - marginal gains, cost= $$$, but you do this to significantly enhance the driving experience - much better shifting, reduction in many intrinsic delays in the stock PCM strategy, some HP/TQ increases. MPG improvements, such as they are, are strictly secondary.

It's a truck - if MPG's are a priority it's the wrong vehicle.

Try slowing down, changing driving habits, keep up the maintenance, etc ...

Lots of 'Mileage' threads on here - all you gotta do is use the feature ...

programmer helps a little, but not much. biggest improvement i ever made for fuel economy was inflating my tires as much as safely possible.

Well, I am not trying to be a **** so keep that in mind.

When I got my truck, I was getting 16.9 MPG ( 06 XLT 5.4 ) and after new tires ( and maybe the winter feul ) I am getting 13.8, I also have a gryphon ( for power and pref, not MPG ) and a CAI, for sound as well as a SI/DO for sound.

If you want good gas milage no matter how hard you drive it, I would suggest a car not a truck, but here are some things that may help you, but keep in mind, these are going to cost $$$ and will take 1-5 years to pay them selfs back off.

Gryphon from PHP, with custom tune
CAI ( be sure you can safely use on on you're truck )
Smaller and ligheter tires and rims
Bed cover
Remove all bulky or non aerodynamic parts.
Stay at 55-60MPH
Coast as much as you can when coming up to lights
don't mash the long pedal when you take off.
Cruse control.
