true duals vs factory exhaust
true duals vs factory exhaust
Hello I'm new here , a few months ago I talked to a muffler shop in my area about putting true duals on my truck from the cats back. He basically talked me out of it saying it would have trouble in pulling my boat, because of needing the backpressure of the stock system for the low end torque. I have a roush cat back now and My trucks in the shop now having a supercharger installed. Any thoughts on this.
I've been running a true dual exhaust setup since the summer of 2006 and have had no power issues. I don't tow much, if anything I'll pull a ski boat in and out of the water and through the neighborhood on occasion.
You don't have a "stock" exhaust setup anymore anyways since you installed the roush kit correct? Besides, all the extra power from a supercharger should negate any backpressure drop. There are plenty of people here who have supercharged their trucks, maybe they'll chime in.

Well I guess i was for looks, sound and performance.
I pull a Bullet bass boat a lot in the summer.
It really isn"t a "stock" exhaust with the cat back kit, I guess I was refering to a single pipe vs dual pipes

A true dual setup will help towing, as long as it is built properly and with the correct parts.
Since you are having a supercharger installed, 2.5 inch smooth/mandrel bent pipes will perform quite well. Hi-flow cats are also a good thing to look at. They make the exhaust sound more aggressive and can gain more power over OEM cats.
You will also want an X-pipe for improved scavenging to help balance the pressure in both pipes.
Finally we come to the mufflers, choose which ever one you think sounds best. There are slight HP differences between all the brands out there. Straight-through mufflers make more horsepower than chambered mufflers, and IMO, sound a lot better.
