CAI, do i need tuner?

05 f150 with 4.6L. I have a magnaflow cat back exhaust system, SI/DO. i ordered up my volant CAI and was about to install it when i read that you need a tuner or it could run lean. Should i hold off on putting it on and buy a tuner?

i was looking at the edge evolution and it looked like a good tuner but your experience might tell me different. THX guys 05f150489

First, with the 4.6, odds of running lean are slim. It can happen, but not likely, different story for 2004-2005 5.4s. Now, the other thing is, the CAI does not do a lot unless you have a custom tune to take advantage of the extra air. Next, the Edge canned tunes are for the stock intake. You need custom tunes. That means the Gryphon, which uses the same hardware as the Edge so provides the gauges, or an SCT product.
