2 Questions about Spectre 9920

1) Do I NEED to get a custom tune on my EVO ASAP or can I install CAI and run LVL 2 without creating any problems/damage?

2) What are the HP gains with this intake? As much searching as I've done, I can not find the answer. I know the K&N boasts 13hp @ 4800rpm or something like that. What about Spectre #9920?

PS- 2002 screw 5.4, straight pipes, edge evo lvl2, 4.56 Yukon, 35x12.50

You do NOT have to have a custom tune to run the CAI but if you do get a custom tune you will get more performance out of the intake.

Question 2
I dont know the numbers but there is a very noticeable improvement over stock and with the edge on level 2 you will be more than happy with it

a custom tune will help get the most out of the new intake. I had mine dyno tuned with the stock supercharger intake, added the spectre (slightly modified) went on a dyno just to see what I was making after recent upgrades. I had an 18 or so RWHP gain just by swapping intakes, but it did lean me out, these gains were on a supercharged engine, not sure on a N/A engine.

here is a link to my dynograph, 1st run stock, 2nd run new intake from spectre (slightly modified), and 3rd run bumped up fuel at WOT @ 4% on spectre intake (slightly modified).

Still trying to justify your purchase , eh?

- The 18hp is on an s/c application, hence not relevant to a NA application.

- The 12hp is a manufacturer's claim only, and hence BS. There is a reason you are not finding independant confirmation on this figure NA - it does not exist.

Relax - just enjoy the intake for what it is - it looks good, is 'safe', will save you money on OEM filter changes, and makes you feel good. All that matters. OK? I went down this road several times - and that was my eventual conclusion (otherwise I would have gone nuts, lol).

Cheers bud.
