so or do?

I am new to V8's, but I am looking for a simple swap in my exhaust. I have an 09 with the 3V engine. I want to keep a stockish look, mainly for budget reasons. I was thinking about a Flo44 SI/SO. I am just getting the muffler and have somebody that can install and weld for me. My question is there a major sound difference between a SI/SO and a SI/DO muffler. I am running the exhaust to the factory location behind the right rear tire. I know that there is no preformance gain, I just want some rumble. Thanks for the help!

Eric

There is really no difference between the si/so and si/do. Make you you have extra piping since the new muffler is way shorter then the stocker. If you like the sound of the Flow 44 go for it I doubt you will be disapointed.

It will have more of a gurgle sound and less rumble to it with single out. If I was going to just replace the muffler, I think I would replace it with a bullet muffler. Just a suggestion.

The bullet is made by dynomax right? How is the pricing compared to flowmaster? I was also looking at cherrybomb extremes and have been following the current cherrybomb topic closely. I have tried to look on youtube for exhaust clips of my motor, but not much is showing, plus it's hard to really hear the sound quality on the internet.

Dynomax bullet is about half the price of a flowmaster.

Is there a bullet and a race bullet? Looking at their website they are strictly showing a racing bullet.

Yea the bullet he is talking about is the race bullet, they are straight through mufflers and sound awesome IMO. Here is the 12" bullet with 3" piping from the Y back, it is a 5.4 2v but the sound difference won't be that big between the two.

Thanks for catching me on that TruckGuy, haha.

Go for it then, they are only $30 or $40 plus the extra piping you will need and your truck will roar.

This wouldn't affect the emmissions correct? I am 98% sure on the bullet, but I just want to make sure everything will be ok after the install.

You will be fine with emissions. A muffler is only a sound reduction.
