Which Intake is best?

OK I am new here, but I haven't found to much on here about intake systems. I need some opinions on which is best. Let me know what you have and how you like it. I want one, but I want to make a wise choice. Thanks!

We really need to know what engine and what year. Also, please read this thread, it touches on your question.

Might I add that I also have the edge programmer. I am thinking of getting exhaust also. With the intakes, I ave looked at the S&B and the K&N.

Ok, I would not dare get a CAI until I had custom tunes. The 04 and 05 5.4s came from the factory in a near lean condition. ANY additional air can cause them to run lean and damage the engine. The Edge tunes are specificaly for a stock intake. You can convert your Edge to a Gryphon and get custom tunes that solve that problem. A CAI adds little unless you have a custom tune, anyway.

Ok. So i should go with the exhaust first? I have read on here about exhaust without the cats. That doesn't make the engine light come on? What would be the best exhaust set up for me to tell the shop. In know the guy who owns it, so he will do whatever I say.

Exhaust from cats back will not cause a problem at all. If you start removing cats, it can, or if you put headers on, you need custom tunes for sure. You have a sensor in the cats that has to be dealt with as well, if you mess with them.

I do exhaust for sound. I love the sound of the Flowmaster Original 40, but if performance is a big thing, I think you lose a little low end torque. No big deal to me. The Magnaflows are better for performance, from what I have read, but they are just too quiet for me. If cost is not a big issue, the Borla or the Roush Offroad have great sound. The Roush sounds much like the Flow 40.

Doesn't disprove the fact that it is an awesome CAI. One thing that makes them so good is that there filter are S&B filters.
