DynaTech/Magnaflow first impressions

Well I have my new exhaust installed. I did the Dynatech headers with a Magnaflow SISO, and complimented it with efans and underdrive pullies. Everything was purchased from Troyer. I am running stock intake and canned tunes right now (waiting for the custom tunes).

I won't go into how much the header install sucked to do, but I will give props to all the companies involved for VERY detailed step-by-step instructions on the individual installations. Quality as well as fit and finnish was top notch for everything as well.

I did not do a before and after Dyno run, but I did pull a decent sized load out to Cali (Glamis to be specific) and back over Thanksgiving weekend. 2700 miles round trip and the Gross weight was 18580 (scaled at a cat scale in Yuma Az).

The truck "felt" to have a ton more low end. I was able to set the cruise at 65 with the OD off and it never once "shut-off" like it does with the engine load get too be too much and it can no longer keep your set speed. I averaged 9.5mpg out and 8.5 back. This is about average for me towing at these speeds, but I am normall only around 15,000lb gross so I feel it was an improvement there as well. My only complaint is that the exhause was WAY too loud when pulling the trailer (for me). Normal driving it is tollerable, and I recieved a ton of compliments when i was playing in the dunes with it. "Your truck sounds sick bro" was a very common compliment recieved by the SoCal guys. I must agree, it does sound great, but just not easily tollerable by me when towing.

I know this is an exhaust and intake thread, but I need to compliment the Efans too. I ran about 200 degree the whole time towing (normally it is more like 220) and my trans temp dropped from 190ish to 155-160 while towing. I was VERY impressed. Unloaded the temps are pretty much the same as before. I did bump my idle speed up 50rpm due to the underdrive pullies as the lights would be really dim at idle at night and I wasn't comfortable with that.

all in all, I am sold. Highly recommend to anyone

interesting, maybe it's because my van is a superduty and may have higher amp alternator-but my uds never in 183k miles have ever dimmed lights at idle, caused ac to perform bad or give me a hard time with my power steering, glad you like the end result-phil

Yes, I did everything myself. The install was extremely easy. I had to use the tool loan program at the parts store to get a pully puller as my chinese knockoff broke trying to extract it. The pully portion literally took about 30 min and the efans about 5 hours. The majority of the efan time was me being **** about wire routing and wire looms, stopping to grab another beer and eating pizza. It can easily been done in 3ish hours if you don't mess around like I tend to. I used the complete kit from Troyer. With the exception of three solder joints (easy ones at that) it was pretty much a drop-in, plug and play install.

I didn't have issues with the power steering, but at stop lights the dash lights and head lights dimmed on me. I have pretty intense AV system in my truck, as well as a 1000w power inverter, so the extra draw may have been the root cause. Reguardless, kicking the RPM up 50 solved the issue. I am more then happy. Combined with the efans, it was a very noticable improvement! No complaints from me, I would recommend to anyone.
