URGENT!!! HELP!! TB clean, poweraid delete

Hey guys, gimmie a hand. I'm cleaning my TB on my 03 SCREW 5.4L and also wanted to get rid of the Poweraid TB Spacer that came with the truck when I bought it. Its not doing anything for me, and MAY actually be hurting my MPGs.

PROBLEM: Obviously they have longer bolts because of the spacer. What bolts do I get if I remove the spacer??? Part #????? I've taken the first piece off (forgive me as I don't know all of the technical terms) but I need the bolts that bolt up the piece with the butterfly to the main body...if that makes sense. Here are some pics that may help....dirty isn't it!

Just leave it on. I can't see any way for it to hurt your performance, but it won't help either.

+1 they actually improve performance. Not by a lot but 1 mpg is 1 mpg. I wouldn't mess with trying to find the right bolts if I didn't have to.

I guess I'm gonna have to. I was gonna sell it on CL and use that $$$ toward my exhaust. Oh well...no sense in looking for bolts today cause I need to hurry up and get in the woods. Mr. 8 Pointer is calling my name, "Dirty....come shoot me!" HAHAHAHA---------DirtySCREW

I couldn't get the TB off as a hose kept squirting coolant all over my engine. I just sprayed the TB cleaner inside and wiped and wiped and wiped and wiped until it was shiny again. I don't have time to do it right...but I know its a LOT cleaner than it was and SHOULD help my MPGs. I hope anyways. I'll post some of the clean pics as well. I couldn't get off the IAC (whatever that is). The screws were dead tight even after I quirted PB Blaster on them a few times. They were getting ready to strip so I quit while I was ahead. Now I have to reassemble eveything. OH, I also clean my MAF with some MAF cleaner.---------------DirtySCREW

Actually, it gains you 0 MPG and 0 HP. The only use for it is to make the engine bay look pretty, and a nitrous port.

Here she is ALL cleaned up:

I do have one question. Obviously it took a little while to get the truck cranked as about half a bottle of TB cleaner flooded it out. Once I did there was a little white smoke (I'm guessing a mini-Seafoam show...I dunno..never used sea-foam before).

My question is there is/was a annoying whining sound coming from my intake. It was a high pitch "shrill"....possible coming from MAF. If you gave it the slightest amount of gas it would quit. Back at idle, it would come back. I have to see if it is still there tomorrow. Also, why is my battery light coming on at WOT?? My truck has so much MORE get up and go. My pants dyno is HAPPY!!!! Just hope my MPGs start going up----DirtySCREW

The whine is probably from the spacer. It will eventually stop when carbon starts caking back on everything again.

Well guys, I drove my truck today about 20-25 miles round trip and no annoying noise...thank God! I dunno what it was. I had never had that moise before and of course the truck had the throttle body spacer. If I had regular bolts, I would have actually removed it..but oh well. My truck seems a lot more "alive" and more responsive. I also reset the ECU by having the negative battery cable disconnected for about 2.5 hours while I did everything. Maybe all the little things are adding up---DirtySCREW

you should have ported that up while you had it apart...

Stock

Ported

takes it from 65-70mm

also the elbow

To get the bolts, go to a wrecker and see if they have any of te trucks laying around, pop the 4 bolts of and there you go.

Also your battery light is flickering because your alternator is on its way out. Expect to be changing that within a couple months
