45 My Roush Off Road?

I just bought the Roush Off Road exhaust that comes straight out the back. I would like to have someone angle it at 45 degrees so it comes out the sides behind the tire. Can you do this without putting a "kink" in the pipe? Or will it bend nicely?

If you use a mandrel to bend it then no. If you try it any other way you're going to crimp it.

So any other way it will for sure crimp it? I don't think there is anyone around here that does madrel bending. Would it be a dumb idea to take the risk and have a shop try anyways?

I would just go for it... I wanted to do that but after the cost I had a custom maggie set-up made... very curious to see this actually done. People have talked about doing it, but no one ever seems to follow through

I don't see how that can be done other than with a pipe bender. You will kink and flatten it. You can get it done at a muffler shop. On a side not, will you use the tips? I think they would look weird as you will be able to see where they go on the tail pipe.

TruckGuy24: I got an appointment for tomorrow morning! If it does end up crimping or kinking the pipe I will just order some stainless that has already been 45'd and get that put on there. I will just to wait a while longer. I'll post pics too when it is finished!

BlueJay: I'm having a muffler shop do this for me, they don't do mandrel bending so they will use the pipe bender that they have...like I said though, if it doesnt work out, i'll just order some stainless that has been 45'd already and have the shop put that on.

I will be using the tips that came with the exhaust, you may be able to see where they connect on the tailpipe but I don't think it will be anything too noticable...On my last pickup I had my exhaust come out at 90 degrees behind the tire and you could see where the tip and tailpipe connected, but it never did bother me much.

Why would you spend that kind of money, on a quality exhaust, only to rob it of power with crappy crush bends?

Take it to a shop that will cut the exhaust (after the axle would be a good spot) and run new stainless mandrel bent pipe 135'd out the back...

I do not think it would be that big of a deal man... worst comes to worse they have to bend you a new set of pipes after the muffler. I think the Roush systems use 2.25" piping

That's correct...... Roush kits use 2.25" piping after the muffler.

your not going to notice a difference in power between mandrel bends and crimp bends unless your pushin alot of horsepowerr

Notice it, probably not.

Simple catbacks allow proven (dynoed) power because of 2 simple changes.

1. a muffler less restrictive than stock

2. smooth flowing mandrel bends vs. the stock crush bent pipes

I just don't see why you would spend that kind of money on a quality kit to only take a step back by throwing on crush bent pipes.

hardly any places use crush bends anymore, my pipes are not mandrel bent but they arent crush bent either i cant remember the name but it flows pretty smoothly, atleast it looks like it does
