I want to hear the power.

I asked last week for advice on a muffler to get some sound out of my new(99 f150 4.6)decided to get the dynomax bullit as suggested.I see they have an exact replacement.Does that mean I will be able to hack the original muffler off and the tailpipe and pipe from the cat will slide into the bullit .My plan is to clamp it since Im doin it myself.I did alot of ht rod stuff in 70/s and now that im a bit older ,dont know all the ins and outs as i once did.catalitic converters were never heard of,now I have 4.My next ??.down the road I may change the WHOLE system,I understand you can get cat back, single or dual.I also read where there are better than original cats that allow for smoother breathing. My thought is,if I was going to change out and do a cat back, wouldnt it be better if I get the cats changed to the more flowing cats??again,I a novice at this ,therefore any info is more than appreciated.i picked up an old man owned 99 lariet extended cab with 25000 miles. So,Im looking to sweeten it up a bit with some bolt on mods. But I dio want to get some sound out NOW.Thanks .

if u wanna go a cheap route, you can do a hack and weld and stick a 2.5" dynomax bullet on there. you will need some extra piping though for the 20" of missing pipe after removing the big fat stocker. also, you can chop off all 4 cats, and install 2 magnaflow high flow cats. those will increase volume, and increase your exhaust flow. i really wouldnt suggest bolting anything on. it wont seal it 100%, so ur better off spending the extra money and getting it welded. But if you are set on bolting, than itll be ok for a little bit.

also, dont waste your money on a catback exhaust. buy the mufflers/tips of your choice online through various venders and have a chop weld everything the way you want it. the best setup would be true duals (no Y pipe) either 2.25" or 2.5" with straight through mufflers and an X or H pipe and 2 high flow cats. and by then you will be so obsessed with the sound, you will want to get a cold air intake, programmer, headers, and much more. once you get started, itll never end

The stock cats are already pretty high flowing... Most swap out the 4 OEM's for 2 highflows for more sound.

The same thing can be accomplished by simply deleting the 2 rear cats.

high flows you will still pass inspection and not need to ahve teh rear o2 sensors turned off or "cheated"

personally go with the h-pipe unless you don't mind rasp
