explain the gotts mod
i have done the gotts mod and it made my truck feel like the engine could finally breath, like it would climb in rpms much easier. it only cost like $12. you should put your money into something else for your truck.
good luck

im not talking about the gotts mod. i dont know anything about that, nor do i care. a filter with a heat shield is going to get hot air no matter what. it may not be a lot, but it's more than an enclosed box like a volant. i also like the volant and recommend it because its an oil-less filter
well the one i saw had what you mentioned plus it had a hole cut out of the intake box and another tube running to the grill area in front of the radiator. that would be double the air and also would make it so you get only outside air. but he did a video of it starting up. he held a piece of paper in front of the hole in the grille area and when he started it, the paper got sucked right into the tube so quick that you could barely see where it went. but the strong sucking thru the tube still means it is restricted at the end of that tube, or it wouldnt be sucking it in very fast. if it is getting enough air at the filter, it fouldnt be creating so much suction at the end of the tube. my flex tube is right up to the filter and with my engine running i put my hand up to the end of the flex tube and could not feel any air getting pulled thru. which means it doesnt need the extra air because it is already getting enough thru the filter. but while moving, you get a ram-air effect. the air is being forced thru the tube to the filter, not sucked in. i still say open filter is the better way to go.
the stock intake when compared to all the aftermarket intakes does a better job of sucking ambient air into the motor
the air force one was a close second to that, wha the gotts mod does is allows your factory intake to breathe better, if you remove the silencer it will breathe even better still
I had full bolts ons when I tried the gotts mod after I started getting ready for boost, the gotts med allowed my truck better mileage and it felt stronger and it fed enough air for the 24# injectors I was running
if you don't like it you can always go back to stock and buy an expensive kit, check the how section there's a nice write done on it
