Go to an independent shop instead of a franchised shop. You tend to get better deals that way. At the shop I go to, installing a new muffler and new tail pipes would be around $100.

yeah next time go to an exhaust shop that a 'mom and pop' type place. the one i go to i got two cats cut off, muffler installed (maggie 14" di/do for $78 on ebay to my door), pipes run all the way out the back with two 4"x18" chrome tips all for around $200 cash. under the table type deal thats why i paid cash. factor in the muffler, i have around $275 total in my exhaust.

Yeah, I knew the flowmaster I bought for $100 would have been cheaper online, but I wanted it done quickly. I'd have been okay with $180, but that extra half hour of labor plus the clamps brought it to an amount that I was really frustrated about...

But yeah, definitely independant mom/pop type shop next time...definitely...
